Solar Overview electricity
Your own mini power station
Solar power panels generate electricity using the suns energy. The solar panels are fitted to your house and convert the sun's energy into solar electricity. This solar power is fed through an inverter directly to your house or through a meter directly into the grid.
QLD Residents
When your system is producing power the need for electricity from your provider is reduced. If you are using less electricity than your system produces, your solar energy system is feeding electricity back into the grid, and the electric company buys that power from you.
NSW Residents
All of the power your system is generating is feedback into the grid through a gross meter. Country energy will reimburse you generously for the power you generate.
In effect, your home becomes a mini solar power station generating electricity and selling it to the grid for use by your neighbours.

Grid connected systems
1. Low voltage DC electricity is generated by the solar array .
2. The DC electricity is fed to the Inverter which changes it to 240V AC.
3. Appliances in the home use solar electricity direct from the Inverter.
4. In QLD, Any excess electricity flows through a meter and is sold to the electricity grid at the applicable 'Feed In' tariff.
5. Electricity also flows back from the grid through the meter as per normal.
6. In NSW, all the electricity is sold to the electricity grid at the gross 'Feed In' tariff.

Currently, Solar Government Rebates for solar electricity come from one of two sources:
1. Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) created from solar electricity installations vary according to the size of the system package chosen. Solar Made Easy will assist you with the completion of the Government Form which can be claimed upon the completion of the solar installation.
2. Solar Credits
The Solar Credit scheme was established in June 2009 for the purpose of providing homes, small businesses and other eligible premises an incentive for installing solar electricity systems (in the absence of the $8000 photovoltaic rebate program that was discontinued in June 2009).
The Solar Credit scheme falls under the umbrella of the Expanded Mandatory Renewable Energy Target (MRET). This scheme gives the owners of solar electricity systems the right to create five times as many Renewable Energy Certificates (REC's) as the solar electricity system would normally be eligible for. Eligible owners will receive five times as many REC's up to the first 1.5kW. For systems 1.5kW and above, the normal REC calculation will apply. The five times calculation will need to be added to the normal REC calculation in order to obtain the total number of REC's eligible for the solar installation. For example, if a 2kW system was installed, the first 1.5kW would receive five times REC's and the other .5kW would receive the normal REC's (no multiplier).
The solar credit scheme is regulated by the Office of the Renewable Energy Regulator (ORER) and will be administered in the same way to the current REC scheme.
